We , some film lovers in Muscat and Oman Film Society in association with Jeevan Omaniyam ,wish to conduct a 6 day workshop on film making. This will be beneficiary to those who are really interested to know the technical side of cinema. It is a rare chance to develop natural skills with a touch of professionalism. Which can lead to extended opportunities and creative entries to vast field of media, such as films, tv programs, music videos and advertisement.










Renowned film personalities like Fowzia Fathima (cinematographer) B. Ajithkumar (editor) and Razi (art director) have kindly consented to grace the occasion with their presence in these days. They will conduct classes on Camera , Editing and Scenic Designs. They introduce maestro’ movies to the participants includes Bergman, Tarkovesky , Chaplin and more. It would certainly be a unique workshop on film making aimed at providing ‘rudimentary guidance’ and chances for the new comers to this field. we intent ‘women participation’ as a footstep forward to multilevel acceptance. Indian cinema made a distinctive touch of its own in the world cinema graph. We are very keen to give creative support and to share our resources in cinema to the local talents to make their way to world of cinema with more potential .

Biodata




Razi




Razi did his BFA in Applied Arts at the Thiruvnanthapuram College of Fine Arts and his MFA in Illustration and Photography at the M.S. University, Baroda. Then joined the FTII, Pune and got his Diploma in Cinema with specialisation in Scenic Design in first class with first rank. Three of his diploma films were selected for the Indian Panorama. He has worked as illustrator for magazines, as graphic designer, as stage designer for theatre productions, large scale stage shows and other events in India and abroad, and as art director for feature films, short films, television shows, documentaries and music videos. His paintings appear in collections in all the metros of India and in Belgium, Canada, England, New Zealand, & Scotland. An exhibition of his digital collages under the title "Thousand Natural Shocks" was done in 2003-2004. Some of his major projects in recent years include:
Total graphic design for the 9th, 10th and 11th editions of the International Film Festival of Kerala.
Stage design and art direction for various award nights and stage shows of Kerala's major media institutions like Asianet, Amrita TV, Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhoomi.
Art direction for the stage and screen show Kadhayattam performed by Sri. Mohanlal and directed by Sri T.K. Rajivkumar, which was staged at Trivandrum, Calicut, Kannur, Trichur, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Dubai
Design and supervision of miniatures, animations, and special effects for several episodes of the television series 'Manavodayam' on the rise of human civilisation, produced by C-dit for Doordarshan.
Master Lay out of Keralakaumudi daily news paper.
City art director in Kerala for "Amazing Race" Programme of AXN
Art director for eight feature films in Malayalam and Hindi.








Ajithkumar B.
After completing Post-Graduation in English Language and Literature, joined the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Won the national award for editing in non-feature category for the diploma film titled Of Confucius, S-spots and Toyguns. For an year, worked as assistant film editor in Bombay. Coming back in 2000 to Thiruvananthapuram, he edited several documentaries and directed some for the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology. Then joined Chitranjali Studio as editor. Co-edited Angane Oravadhikkalathu, the first feature film to be edited on a computer based non-linear system in Kerala. During his one year stint at Chitranjali, edited 15 feature films. After leaving Chitranjali, he travelled widely participating in the shooting of documentaries on various issues and edited many of them. Got the national award for editing in non-feature category again for Atman in 2002. Continued editing feature films too, many of which won awards in Indian and International film festivals. Won the Kerala state award for best editing for Nizhalkkuthu and Bhavum. Apart from editing films, he makes documentaries and commercials, sometimes involves in feature films as associate director and frequently teaches in various educational institutions in Kerala.




Fowzia Fathima
Fowzia Fathima, graduated from Stella Maris College, Chennai in 1992, with a first class degree in the History of Art, during which time, she was active as an Air-Wing NCC Cadet, acquiring a private pilot license.

Entered the art-world in "Apparao Gallery”, Chennai, for a year, and this exposure to contemporary Indian art and artist motivated further academic pursuit. She joined the Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda for an MA Hons. in History of Arts and Art Criticism. Graduated in 1995 with a first rank, gold medal. An interaction with the Film Club in Baroda became an inspiration to take up film as the medium of her expression, as Motion picture photography.

Joined the Film and TV Institute of India, Pune, in 1996 to learn Cinematography, completed in 1999 with a first class Diploma in Cinema. On-campus she worked with leading masters in cinema like Raoul Coutard-the French New Wave cinematographer, Renowned Indian cinematographers KK Mahajan and Rajan Khotari. Returned in 1998 to work with the celebrated Director of Photography P. C. Sreeram. Both mentor and guide, working under him laid the foundation for a successful transition to a professional working life and discipline, first as his apprentice and then as an associate cinematographer.

From 2000, have been a cinematographer for commercials and documentaries, and from 2001, as Director of Cinematography for full-length feature films which have been very successful. Completed 8 feature films in english, tamil and new project is in malayalam. Her debut film was Revathy’s Mitr my Friend. Worked with director Priyadarsan for television commercials and other Chennai based TV producers.

In 2006, she was listed in the magazine India Today as one of the top ten cinematographers from Chennai making their mark in Indian cinema. She was a member of the panel of jurors for the Kerala State Film Awards, 2007. Elected into the Executive Committee of the Southern India Cinematographers Union, S.I.C.A., (the first woman member in the EC), 2008

For the past several years, She has been conducting workshops on cinema and cinematography in different educational institutions in south India, including L.V.Prasad Academy, Chennai and recently conducted a ten day digital cinematography workshop at the Srishti School of Design, Bangalore, in February 2009
